MAAM

Lectures & Workshops

Humanities Center High-Impact Teaching Grant, Bucknell University

Funds were used to arrange transportation for Bucknell students to Dickinson College to participate in a lecture and discussion as part of Roberto Saviano’s participation in the Stellfox Visiting Scholars and Writers Program at Dickinson College

I have collaborated with rapper-activist Amir Issaa on three occasions. In 2018 (Dickinson College), he ran a rap workshop with students in my course: Migrant Media: Narrating Experiences ‘on the Margins’ of Italy. Students tweeted at Amir in preparation for his visit. In 2019, Amir led a walking tour through Torpignattara with my students from the University of Pittsburgh. During our stops, we read and discussed excerpts from his text Vivo per questo. In 2020, Amir met with students in my Viewing Italy in 20/20 course (Bucknell) virtually. He responded to questions submitted by students and improvised a rap for participants.
